Help Save Camp Pouch - Scouts DO NOT want Camp Sold

The Scouts of New York would like everyone to understand, they do not want Camp Pouch sold. Many Scouts and New York City Residents will be marching on City Hall next Monday, April 5th, 2010 at 2pm.

March with them to show your support. If Camp Pouch is sold, the only camp within New York City will be lost as well as part of Staten Island’s greenbelt. The land will most likely be used for housing if sold.

The Scouts are asking as many people from Staten Island as possible to join the Scouts on their March. Public and private schools will still be off for spring vacation on April 5th.

When: April 5th at 11 am.

Where: Steps of Staten Island Borough Hall. Staten Islanders will be traveling to Manhattan via the Staten Island Ferry on the 11:30am boat.

Queens and Brooklyn will be marching over the Brooklyn Bridge. The Bronx and Manhattan will be meeting the other three boroughs at City Hall for the 2pm March. New Jersey Scouts will be coming in via the Path Train.

Staten Island has the majority of Scouts from the five boroughs. Camp Pouch in located here and we are hoping for a large turnout to show our support, not just for Scouts, but for our Greenbelt’s future as well.

Scouts from all over the world have come to Camp Pouch for the unique camping experience within New York City and so close to Manhattan itself. Help show how important this treasure is.

Please pass the along to all concerned Staten Islanders, Scouts, New Yorkers and New Jersey friends as well.
