Two Family House - film set in Staten Island

This movie was filmed about a Staten Island family.  I contacted the producers when doing Save Staten Island and asked if the story line was based on real life events.  Here is the response I received:

hi mary-ellen. i'm one of the film's producers.
the film was indeed based on a true story -- up to a point. the filmmaker raymond defelitta's uncle in fact evicted a tenant from their staten island two family house after she bacame pregnant with a black illegitimite child, but in real life never circled back to help her and develop the romantic relationship that they do in the film. as ray has said, "it was something my uncle regretted his entire life, so i rewrote history to give it the ending he always wanted". consequently the bar is fictional, although the scenes were shot at The Bridge Tavern on SI.
hope that's helpful. best, al
