From our Friends at COASHI

Irish traditional music sessions (seisiúns in Gaelic) are informal social gatherings where traditional musicians share dance music and songs of the Irish culture and heritage.  These sessions are a key aspect in sustaining the rich tradition of Irish traditional music. This past Spring, traditional Irish musicians, Linda Hickman and Doug Barr, received a JP Morgan Chase grant to introduce and awaken an interest in Staten Islanders to the traditions of an Irish music session.  Their project seeks to establish and fund a monthly community based session which will provide the opportunity and outlet for others to participate in the passing down of the Irish music.

This Sunday, September 12th, their first Irish music session will happen at The Wild Goose Pub(530 Forest Avenue) from 1pm -4pm.  Thesessions will occur on the second Sunday of every month (i.e. 9/12/10; 10/10/10; 11/14/10; 12/12/10...).  Please join Linda Hickman (Flute), Doug Barr (Concertina), and Iris Nevins (Harp), this Sunday at 1pm at the Wild Goose Pub (530 Forest Avenue).
