Semester courses, for youth ages 11-18.
SPRING SEMESTER

SCENE STUDY with Jay Montgomery
SATURDAYS: 1:00 - 2:30pm at Cottage E 2nd floor.
FROM: February 5 - April 30, 2011 (10 classes total)
COST: $300 includes final showcase.
Scene Study focuses on the acting and analysis of theatrical scenes both contemporary and classical, emphasizing every element of an actor's craft - developing concentration, overcoming fear and self-consciousness, exercising voice and body, unlocking emotional availability, drawing upon personal experience, and most importantly, learning to use one's imagination - all in order to bring a character to life.
The class will emphasize developing skills for cold reading, improvisation, listening and responding, memorization, stage awareness, and isolating a character's objectives and obstacles. The class ends with a final invited showcase (date and time TBD).
PRIVATE VOCAL INTRUCTION with Tamara Jenkins

COST: $65
Instruction begins with breathing exercises and trains core muscles to develop excellent breath control. Special emphasis is placed on dilating the throat and developing strong muscles to assist in singing with the larynx in a relaxed position. The aim is to ensure vocal health and longevity. Technique is then applied to repertoire. Students will perform at Semester Final Showcase.
THEATER DANCE with Beth Gittleman
THEATER DANCE SATURDAYS 3 - 4:30 Building G, room 202
TAP SATURDAYS 4:30 - 5:30pm Building G, room 202
FROM: February 5 - April 30, 2010 (12 classes)
COST: $300 includes final showcase.
Theater Dance: This class will focus on establishing a strong base level of theatrical dance knowledge. An introduction will be made into various styles of theater dance; Fosse, Robbins, Song and Dance, etc. Special attention is paid to acting within a number. Must have previous dance training.
Tap Dance: Focus will be paid to learning the fundamentals of tap dance. Exercises will incorporate ankle strengthening, rhythm, and syncopation. Class will have three components; barre, across the floor and theatrical tap choreography. Tap shoes required, no experience necessary.
*Classes must have a minimum of six enrollments.
