 art-OFF is an interactive art competition presented in coordination with Second Saturdays Art Walk.Inspired by reality television shows such as Iron Chef, Chopped, Project Runway, and Work of Art: The Next Great Artist, COAHSI will choose five teams of NYC-based artists to face-off at art-OFF, a monthly competition kicking-off Second Saturdays Art Walk starting in March and running through June. At each event, a secret material will be revealed to those in attendance and each team will have an hour to create a work of art related to a theme chosen at random at the start of the event. The competitors will be given access to limited resources to complete their work of art. After the hour is up, popular vote will decide which team will not return the consecutive week. The team that remains after four weeks will receive a cash prize of $400 AND a snazzy championship belt! --- $15 burning a hole in your wallet?  COAHSI is excited to present LUMEN2011, a cutting-edge video art and projection festival featuring site-specific video installations, 3D-video technology, sound-based performances, and art interventions by artists around the globe. We are currently accepting applicationsfrom emerging artists, groups, or organizations from Staten Island interested in participating in LUMEN 2011. The call is open to video art, installation, or performance-based projects. There is no entry fee. |
