Please join us for this thrilling milestone in the 130 year history of the Staten Island Museum where we will break ground on the restoration of the first of two triple land-marked structures, followed by the public opening of our new home in 2013.
Starting in the 1960s when the Museum aggressively lobbied for the protection of historic Sailor's Snug Harbor from demolition, Mayor Lindsay agreed to purchase the "front five" buildings and the surrounding acres with the goal of moving the Museum and its operations to the site.
After a wait of more than 40 years, the Staten Island Museum is finally coming to the site that it strived mightily to save. |
