Rescue 5 lost eleven firefights on 9-11-2001. With easy access to the Twin Towers via the express way near the bridge, many members boarded the trucks and were some of the first on the scene that morning.

Today, a section of Clove Road near the Rescue 5 firehouse, was renamedELEVEN IN HEAVEN SQUARE RESCUE.
