Arrochar

Arrochar, on the North Shore of Staten Island is a mainly residential area.  It is in close proximity to the Verranzanno Bridge.  The area was inhabited by the Lenape Indians prior to be taking over by the Europeans.  It was named for W.W. Arrochar in the 1840’s after a village in Scotland.

Arrochar’s Original Estate is now part of St. Joseph Hill Academy.

It is located directly inland of Fort Wadsworth and South Beach, with Grasmere on the west.
