May is Bike Month in NYC

April showers have come and gone, and with gas hitting a staggering $4 high, what better way to enjoy all the new tulips and greenery than cruising around on two wheels?  The NYC Depts of Transportation, Parks, and Health, along with Transportation Alternatives and GreeNYC, have teamed up to produce a calendar chock full of events, activities and outreach designed to make May as much about pedals as it is about petals.  Interested in art, music, film, classes, tours, races?  You can find it all at http://bikemonthnyc.org/

Wondering what all this has to do with Staten Island?  The inaugural Tour de Staten Island an official free-of-charge Bike Month event, showing off the best of Staten Island and attracting riders from all five boroughs--and even a few from New Jersey!  Fri, May 20 is also National Bike to Work Day, and T.A's SI Volunteer Committee will greet riders outside the St George Ferry Terminal with complimentary treats.

So what are you still sitting around on a computer for?  Grab a friend and go for a ride!
