Sat July 23 at 3pm. Bessie Coleman: First African-American Aviator. Miller Field: 801 New Dorp Lane, (at Cedar Grove Ave, off Hylan Blvd), SINY 10306. When the US refused to train a Black woman pilot, Bessie went to France, learned French, secured her pilot's license and made history. Free!
Saturday July 30, 6:30pm Moby Dick at Ft Wadsworth, entry at Bay Street & School Road, SINY 10305. Our annual celebration of Melville's classic, in a spectacular setting that Melville loved and wrote about with ardor. Music: SI Philharmonic Orchestra. Free!
