Tour De Staten Island - May 14th 10am-2pm

Tour de Staten Island- May 14, 10 AM- 2 PM

Registration is required; limited to 180 people. Registration opens May 5th at tourdestatenisland.org.
In the tradition of T.A.'s beloved borough tours comes a ride around NYC's seafaring sister. Co-hosted by T.A.'s Staten Island Volunteer Committee, the Tour de Staten Island is a family-friendly, leisurely-paced ride around northern and central Staten Island.
If you are familiar with the Tour de Brooklyn, and Tour de Queens, then you should be aware of some differences. This is a smaller ride - limited to 180 people, and there will be NO police escort.
The ride will move as a self-guided tour complete with a comprehensive cue sheet and map, with volunteer riding marshals available to guide and assist. Riders are expected to obey traffic lights and all rules of the road.
We will travel in an 18 mile loop with a rest stop half way. The ride will start and end at the Lighthouse Museum plaza by the Staten Island Ferry, and the rest stop will be located at Pouch Camp/Kaufman Campgrounds.
We will have water systems at the start and rest stop, and a light snack at the rest stop. We recommend bringing money and a bike lock to explore the great food options by the finish site.
***NOTE: THERE IS ONE VERY SERIOUS PROLONGED CLIMB IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS TOUR. The grade is not horribly steep, but the hill is about a mile. There is a S.I. Rail stop (New Dorp) at the base of the hill for those who wish to stop riding at that point. On the other hand, the rest stop awaits you at the top! Refuel, rest your legs and then the rest of the ride is pretty much all downhill. You can do it!
Thanks to our great Staten Island sponsors:
Bennett's Bicycles, Uncle Bourbon's, Everything Goes Book Café, The Bike Shop, & Karl's Klipper
