Exciting Offerings from ART LAB This Spring


Spring 2011

The spring term consists of ten weekly classes starting between Sunday, April 3 and through Saturday, April 9 and continues through June 11.   Classes cancelled due to Holidays, etc will have end dates later than June 11. Please see instructor or office staff for details.   Faculty resumes available from the office upon request.


 TEENS (AGES 13 TO 17)

COMICS AND SEQUENTIAL ART FOR TEENS TO YOUNG ADULTS *NEW*  Robert Geronimo

Students learn how to properly draw the figure through focusing on proportion, weight, balance, line and light and shadow.  The importance of good visual storytelling will emphasized above all else.  Students will explore the best ways to convey their stories by using various illustration techniques and learning the language of comics.  The class will cover everything from perspective to inking your own comic book.   Materials supplied.

Dreaming about being a fashion designer one day? Learn how it is done, from the inspiration, concept and color to the final garment and fabric designs. You will also learn how to draw fashion sketches and illustrations and coloring and rendering techniques. Great for your portfolio preparation. Fashion Institute of Technology graduate with years of industry experience teaches the course.

Students will learn the fundamentals of drawing comics by focusing on the basic anatomy of the figure.  There will be an emphasis on character design including costumes, hair and weaponry.  They will also explore various illustration techniques that will help develop their ideas that can be turned into dynamic comic book heroes.  Supply list upon request.

Fun and creative course for the budding fashionistas. Students will learn how to design from inspiration and concept to fashion drawing and coloring techniques. Mixed Media Experience for three - five year olds. Class will integrate a variety of art materials and their uses to develop basic skills and appreciation for visual art. Children will have fun with all kinds of art forms while increasing vocabulary and improving creative ability. Drawing, paint, clay and collage will be explored over a ten week period.
